Welcome to Broadway Unlimited Summer 2024!
The “Broadway Unlimited” Summer Program is a unique one week performing arts experience for young performers ages 8-18 as they embark on their journey to Broadway in Bergen County, NJ & NYC.
This year our program will be held July 29 - August 2 in Waldwick NJ At Studio L Dance Studio (400 North Street Waldwick, NJ) with a showcase in NYC on August 3rd.
Students have the opportunity to train with working Broadway professionals and specialized faculty in the performing arts. During the week students will have daily training, see a Broadway show, perform in a showcase for industry professionals in NYC and so much more! Come join our founder, Broadway/tv film teaching artist, Donna Vivino (Hell’s Kitchen (Alicia Keys musical), Wicked, Law & Order, Les Miserables, Hairspray, Submissions Only), on your journey to Broadway.
Some of our students have gone on to work in feature films, were accepted into prestigious college programs for theatre and music but most of all have made connections to other young student passionate about musical theatre and performing arts. Some of these students have gone on to write plays together and support one another on their artistic journeys.
Past guest artist instructors have included Annaleigh Ashford (Sweeney Todd), Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice), Donna Murphy (Tangled), Adriana Hicks (Six) and Thayne Jasperson (Hamilton).
Our Summer 2023 Broadway Unlimited one-week performing arts experience is offered exclusively by audition only and awarded to our BU selected participants. Each class will vary in length from 45 minutes to two hours. Students will be performing for instructors and peers in classes and workshops receiving feedback daily. Students will have core classes at least four times a week as well as specialized masterclasses with Broadway guest artists and professional industry professionals. All students will receive a one-on-one session with a Broadway casting director and/or agent.

broadway unlimited 2024 Program Details
When: July 29 - August 2 9am - 5pm with industry showcase in New York City on August 3. Wednesday July 31 the students will be bussed to NYC for one-on-ones with casting director or agent in a NYC rehearsal studio and will attend a matinee of a Broadway show. (Show selection choices will be announced at a later date).
Where: Studio L Dance Company in Waldwick, NJ (4 North Street #400) in Bergen County, NJ on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday in NYC (Chartered transportation from Waldwick, NJ directly to the theatre with chaperones) and Saturday or Sunday showcase at a NYC Theatre space for industry and parents.
Instructors: Broadway guest artists and industry professionals including program director Donna Vivino (Wicked, Law & Order, Les Miz) .
Past guest artists have included Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice), Caissie Levy (Frozen), Donna Murphy (Tangled), Stephen Schwartz (composer of Wicked, Prince of Egypt), Annaleigh Ashford (Sweeney Todd), Christy Altomare (Anastasia) Adriana Hicks (Six, Some Like it Hot), Thayne Jasperson (Hamilton).
Limited Spots Available. If you have done the program before you still must re-audition. Past participants can come directly to callbacks if they choose to re-audition.
What to Expect During your 2024 Summer Intensive!
Daily catered lunches, snacks and water (no packed meals necessary)
Daily Special Master classes with Broadway Guest artists and industry professionals from shows such as “Hell’s Kitchen” “Hamilton”, “Six” “Frozen”, “Dear Evan Hansen”, “Beetlejuice”, “Wicked” that will cover the following -- including but not limited to:
Song interpretation (Finding your voice & voice type)
Theatre/Broadway Dance (How to learn a dance combination quickly)
Acting for the camera with guest artists from TV and Film
Comedy improv
Cold Readings
Choosing the right songs and monologues for YOU
The Dos & Don’ts of Auditioning
Key tools to Battle Nerves and Have Fun Onstage
A Q&A panel before the showcase for Parents
Daily work with owner/director ” Donna Vivino (Broadway’s “Hell’s Kitchen”, “Wicked”(Elphaba), “Hairspray”, “Legally Blonde” “Les Miz” TV “Law & Order” )
Daily intensives and rehearsals for our Showcase (Location TBD) from 9am-5pm in acting, singing and dance (ALL STUDENTS ARE DIVIDED INTO AGE/SKILL APPROPRIATE GROUPS) in a rehearsal studio in Waldwick, NJ with our performing arts team and master guest teachers. Students will learn the “Broadway basics” including how to break down a dance combination, how to pick the right place to cut a song down to 16-32 bars and scene study/monologue. Every student will leave the program with a rehearsed and coached monologue and a song repertoire book of at least 2 cut audition songs. They will also learn key tools from the pros about how to build confidence, battle nerves and of course have fun while performing.
Tickets to a Broadway matinee on Wednesday preceded by a Q&A lunch and workshop with a Broadway star in a New York City rehearsal studio
Mock audition session with NYC casting director and/or agent for young performers
Guest Panel and information session for parents with industry professionals the day of the showcase.
Orientation night and meet & greet Sunday evening
Showcase performance for family, friends and invited NYC industry guests (Location TBD)
Zoom/Facetime coaching session prior to the start of the program for help with preparation for the week
Chartered and Chaperoned (with the Broadway Unlimited staff) Bus transportation round trip to NYC on Wednesday
Certificate for completing “Broadway Unlimited” summer program
Two “Broadway Unlimited” t-shirts

OPTIONAL ADD-ONs will be announced for after hours too if parents need students to stay past 5pm or students want extra enrichment. These activities will be based on the students enrolled in the program as our program is always tailored to the individuals.
